For the past seven and a half years, US President George W. Bush has run roughshod over any man, woman, or nation that he didn't like or that got in his way. He has declared that the US will invade any sovereign nation he feels is a threat to it. He has, in fact, invaded one sovereign nation already — under false pretenses, completely destroying it, all the while creating the greatest terrorist threat to the world in centuries. As a result, he is responsible for the death of over 100,000 civilians and thousands of soldiers. He has detained hundreds, if not thousands, of men around the world — brutally torturing many of them, declaring them to be a threat to the security and safety of the United States. Under the guise of "executive privilege" he has violated many Federal laws, as well as portions of the US Constitution. When many of his cohorts have been selected for prosecution, he has declined to allow it, citing "executive immunity".
I don't know about you but this certainly sounds like many of the dictators around the world that the US once fought against. It seems that what was once good is now evil and what was once evil is now good.
Now, Bush has his hand picked girl Friday — US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice — pressuring Israel to give land to its sworn enemies and to release prisoners, many who are terrorists with blood on their hands. And even though Israel's weak political leaders are doing all they can to accommodate Bush, Rice recently stated, "Obviously there is more that needs to be done...."
The United States, along with the rest of the world, has been trying, long before Bush got into office, to force Israel to bow to its enemies and relinquish some of its most important land. There have been many different pacts and treaties. However, the pressure against Israel has never been like this. Ever since Bush got re-elected, he has been applying great pressure to Israel to make the deal, all the while building up Israel's sworn Arab enemies. And it only gets worse the closer we get to Bush leaving office.
These enemies of Israel were, up until approximately ten years ago, recognized as terrorist organizations by the US government, as well as other nations. These terrorist organizations are responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, many of them US citizens. They used to be funded by Arab nations. Now, under the direction of the Bush administration, not only does the US participate in their funding, it is also responsible for providing military training, along with weapons and ammunition. In order to look "respectful", Bush shied away from dealing with master terrorist Yasir Arafat, choosing instead to work with his terrorist partner and co-founder of the Fatah terrorist group Mahmoud Abbas (aka "Abu Mazen"). And even though Abbas's Fatah organization includes the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade — listed with the US State Department as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, Bush behaves as he usually does when he wants something — he turns a blind eye to the illegality of it and moves on with his plan.
On Monday Israel released 198 more Arab terrorists from prison, two with blood on their hands. Rice, visiting in the area to keep the pressure on, stated that it wasn't enough. Israel, she said, needs to do more to show the Arabs and the world that they really want peace. In fact, she went so far as to say that Israel really didn't want peace and it was Bush who had "worked tirelessly over the last seven years of his administration to lay a foundation for this peace process" — as if it were Bush's original idea! It is true that Bush has declared that he has a demonic vision to divide the land of Israel — regardless of what Yahweh says, and give it to Israel's sworn enemies. However, he is not the one who started the process, although he is very proud of being the only US president to demand the creation of an Arab state in the midst of Israel.
Bush has used Israel as a pawn in his games with the Chinese, the Russians, the Syrians and the Iranians. He recently pressured Israeli Prime Minister Olmert, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, and Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi to forfeit Israel sovereignty in order to place a US military installation in the Negev. Now, Rice is demanding Israel do more.
In addition, Rice has once again demanded that Israel stop building homes and communities in Judea and Samaria. For some reason it's alright for the US to build on land it has taken in a war but Israel is not allowed.
For all the educational degrees and awards that Rice has, it's amazing that she believes, along with most of the rest of the world, that there once existed a people called the "Palestinians". However, history clearly proves there never was a "Palestinian people". In fact, it wasn't until after the 1967 Six Day War that the Arabs started claiming that there was such a people. Prior to that, the Arabs themselves used the term "Palestinian" to refer to Jews living in the area referred to as Palestine, which included all or part of modern day Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
As of today, there are 126 days left in Bush's plan to divide Israel. Will he and Rice be able to pull it off? Or perhaps it will fall to McCain or Obama to see it through. It doesn't matter because whoever is elected they will continue the pressure on Israel; in fact, like Bush did after Clinton, they will once again increase the pressure.
However, for those who look to the Creator of the universe — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel — there is one great truth we can hold on to: according to the prophet Zechariah, "Then Yahweh will come forth and make war on those nations as He is wont to make war on a day of battle.... and Yahweh shall be king over all the earth; in that day Yahweh shall be one and His name one." (Zechariah 14:3,9)
